Mt Shuksan and Picture Lake

An exhilarating view of Mt Shuksan in the Picture lake ... not to forget mentioning that this shot was taken at 4:00AM !

yes..that's right at 4:00AM. And no it wasn't my dedication to capture at this time :)

There was strong predication to view aurora that previous night. It was friday night and was worth the effort, so we joined some friends and headed to Mt Baker ski area.
Unfortunately we didn't get to see the Aurora (though some friends who explored the following night did see !!!). So since we were up until 3:00AM anyways, we decided to stay until sunrise and managed to capture this shot in half-asleep state !

out for a walk ...

"I only went out for a walk, and finally concluded to stay out till sundown,
for going out, I found, was really going in."
~ John Muir

This quote is so true ... this below shot was actually taken right outside my office when I stepped out for some fresh air :)

Blown Away !

I am mesmerized with this season every year.
...and not bored a bit as I take pictures of almost the same trees and those beautifully fallen leaves.

Bench Lake - Mt Rainier - WA

Just off the Stevens canyon road, Mt Rainier National Park, is this clear and pristine Bench Lake with an astounding backdrop of "The Mountain" !

A short 0.8 mile trail which weaves through a beautiful meadow which in this season flaunts brilliant fall colors.

The colorful mountain ash and huckleberry bushes giving a new dimension to this astounding landscape

An awe-inspiring view of Mt Rainier along this trail

Definitely a kid friendly hike !
The trail further continues to Snow Lake, which we however couldn't cover on this trip.

Mt Rainier and its reflection in Bench Lake....a magical moment to relish !

Biking for a cause

At Logan Pass, we were returning from our hike to 'Hidden Lake'. While I was trying to slide my way down on the snowy trail, I got into conversation with a fellow hiker. He was a student from UV of Texas... he and his group were on a biking expedition for a cause !
Unfortunately since our speed was not matching up, I couldn't really get to speak much, but the info he had shared was lingering in my thoughts and was amazed.

When I returned to the parking lot, I couldn't miss spotting these vans and the mission they were heading. Kudos !

On returning home, I googled to find this -

On June 1, 2013, many students from the University of Texas embarked on a journey of their life .... to bike 4500 miles from Austin, Texas to Anchorage, Alaska.
Their mission - to spread Hope, Knowledge, and Charity for the fight against cancer.

Mountain Flowers - Glacier National Park & Mt Rainier

Summer is at its best and I am sure everyone on this side of the world are enjoying the season.
While the mercury is rising here, the mountains are blooming with flower-studded meadows and pleasant temperature.

Last few weekends we have been spending a lot of time by the mountains - camping, hiking and site-seeing. We were lucky to be able to spot even some wildlife during these trips ... a separate post on that later.

Below are some of the spring flowers I captured from recent trips to Mt Rainier and Glacier National Park.
If you happen to know the names of some these unidentified flowers, please do share :)

Beargrass ... yes that's the name :)

the very pretty Ox-eye Daisies

some more variety of daisies...

Meadows carpeted with Glacier Lilies

Lupinus .. a very commonly sighted flowers

this may be the scarlet Paintbrush

not sure if this also belongs to the Paintbrush family

These flowers have the fragrance of rose and guessing these are wild-roses

unidentified beauties...

nature's rock garden :)

Truly..as Rumi once said "Hear blessings dropping their blossoms around you"

Glacier National Park, MT

"Far away in Montana, hidden from view by clustering mountain-peaks, lies an unmapped
northwestern corner- the Crown of the Continent. The water from the crusted snowdrift which caps the peak of a lofty mountain there trickles into tiny rills, which hurry along north, south, east and west, and growing to rivers, at last pour their currents into three seas. From this mountain-peak the Pacific and the Arctic oceans and the Gulf of Mexico receive each its tribute. Here is a land of striking scenery."
~ George Bird Grinnell

We are just back from the mountains ... snow capped, studded with pine trees, draped in glacier streams and water falls !

The mountains whisper is still echoing in my ears...

Still lingering is the sweet fragrance of the wild flowers blooming on the mountain tops.

Stay tuned for more posts on this place of grandeur.
